Ongoing Sustainability Inquiry at Nurture Montessori, Victoria Park

Nurture Montessori Victoria Park is Nurture Early Learning’s dedicated boutique Montessori service, specialising in authentic Montessori education for children from 14 months to school age.

At Nurture Montessori Victoria Park, sustainability is more than a project—it is a way of life.

Closely aligned with the Montessori principle of care of the environment, sustainability is embedded throughout our daily programme and evolves alongside the children’s interests, questions, and discoveries. Children are encouraged to become active participants in caring for their environment through meaningful, hands-on experiences that promote responsibility and environmental awareness.

Creative experiences frequently incorporate recycled and natural materials generously donated by families and our wider community, helping children understand the importance of reusing resources and reducing waste.

Our garden programme provides opportunities for children to connect deeply with nature and experience the complete life cycle of food. Children plant seeds, care for growing produce, harvest fruits, vegetables and herbs, and participate in preparing meals to share with their peers.

Food scraps are then returned to our worm farm, where children actively contribute to creating nutrient-rich fertiliser that supports the continued growth of our gardens. Through these interconnected experiences, children develop sustainable habits and a genuine respect for the natural world.
